Common Problems and Faults of UV Printers
Nov 15th,2025 121 Views
Fault 1: Left-right Ghosting or Double Lines in Printing!
Solution: Adjust improper printing parameters (e.g., unidirectional/bidirectional printing). Verify the accuracy of horizontal calibration parameters. Check if the distance between the print head and the medium is too high. Recalculate the X-axis movement coefficient if it is imprecise.

Fault 2: Misalignment Between White and Color Inks!
Solution: Re-calibrate inaccurate white or color ink calibration parameters. Adjust the distance between the print head base plate and the medium.

Fault 3: White Spots (Unprinted Areas) in Prints!
Solution: Address issues with the print job itself, such as white ink shrinkage. Re-calibrate white ink and related parameters. Adjust the distance between the print head base plate and the medium. Reduce excessively high white ink temperature or increase low voltage (both can cause non-vertical ink jetting). Decrease excessive ink volume.

Fault 4: Insufficient Ink Adhesion!
Solution: Clean the medium surface with alcohol to remove contaminants. For materials like PP, try applying white spirit. Use specialized coatings for metals or glass to enhance adhesion. Increase UV lamp intensity by setting double-pass irradiation or boosting power.

Fault 5: Ink Splattering at Edges!
Solution: Eliminate static electricity on the medium surface. Adjust improper print head voltage. Increase humidity in the operating environment.

Fault 6: Front-back Ghosting or Double Lines in Printing!
Solution: Verify the accuracy of calibration parameters (e.g., step size, Y-axis deviation). Fix data transmission errors by re-plugging the USB interface between the machine’s board and the computer. Close the software, restart the machine, and reopen the software.

Fault 7: Excessive Color Deviation in Prints!
Solutions:
  1. Incorrect ICC profile: Select proper RIP parameters (input ICC, output ICC, pass count, resolution, etc.).
  2. Wrong printing mode: Check printing parameters (speed, unidirectional/bidirectional printing, pass count, irradiation mode, white ink settings, etc.).

Fault 8: Color Distortion During Printing!
Solutions:
  • Refill ink in the secondary ink cartridges or check ink levels in the main cartridges.
  • Click "Yes" when the software prompts "Continue ink supply?" If "No" was selected, restart the software.
  • Test ink pump functionality by simulating a low-ink environment.
  • Clean ink residue on the nozzle surface by performing normal ink priming and wiping the print head.
  • Adjust improper negative pressure to the correct value.

Fault 9: Ink Breakage During Printing!
Solutions:
  • Adjust the negative pressure to the appropriate value.
  • Stop printing, check for ink on the nozzle surface, perform normal ink priming, and wipe the nozzle with non-woven fabric.
  • Remove air from the print head by priming ink and wiping the nozzle.
  • Replace the filter between the secondary ink cartridge and the print head.
